Kendall in mourning....
On our ride home from Charlotte today, Kendall asked, "mom, did you get blue?". Blue is short for blue dog, her "security", "lovie", item she loves to cuddle at night. I told her that no, I had not repacked Blue, I thought she had him. We were 3o minutes from home, so not about to turn around and go back. I called the hotel and left a message for security, the department I was told would be in charge of items left in the room. They called back to check in with me and told me to call back at 7:30 pm, when items from housekeeping would make it down to lost and found. I called back, left a message and then spoke to them when they called a few minutes ago. No Blue Dog. I let Kendall know, who looked shocked, but fine, until she left my sight and I heard these horrific sobs coming from another room. Poor Kendall! She is nine, after all...it isn't like loosing your "security blanket" at the age of three or four. But, this was truly a "friend" to her, a stuffed that had feelings in her mind (I was the same way growing up and I can SO relate), so, she is in mourning over her special friend. Hopefully, housekeeping will find him in with the sheets, but if not, there's gonna be some heart healing going on here in our house :(
