A Day At The Zoo & A Golf Tournament

We were with the Collins clan, all shown here on a rock.
My favorite exhibit at this zoo- the giraffe. Gorgeous animal!

Posing children :)

Isn't this guy incredible?

Cute zoo animals!!

This is Kendall and Gabriella in our backyard with an oak
leaf they found with a fungus on it. It is a perfect bulls eye
pattern of red, black and white. Really cool!
So, this week, we took a trip the the N.C. Zoo in Asheboro. Perfect day for the zoo- cool, sunny, breezy. All the animals were out. The zoo is very spread out and quite large, so the kids were worn out at the end of the day.
We also traveled to Charlotte as a family to attend the Quail Hollow Championship Golf Tourney. We wanted to see Tiger Woods. Thankfully, we went on Friday as he was eliminated so he won't be playing over the weekend! As might be expected, huge crowds followed him, so in order to get close enough to actually see him, we went ahead two holes and waited where he'd be walking by (the tee and putting greens were already packed). He did pass very closely- about two feet away. He was very intense (if you haven't heard, he had a horrible day/round). It was a beautiful course, very peaceful and another great weather day. We have had wonderful spring
weather. We spent time watching drives come toward us on a par three hole, sitting in the shade on the grass. Then we sat at the tee box watching players hit their drives. We meandered through rolling hills working our way to hole 18 to watch several players, including Tiger, finish their day. We stayed downtown overnight (not the Ritz this time, boo) and walked to a pizza place where we ate on an outdoor patio enjoying, you guessed it, the gorgeous weather!
