We were up bright and early this morning (well, reporting to the pool at 8 sharp) for the practice meet that starts our swim team season. Both Justin & Kendall have a challenge this year in that they've moved up an age group each. Justin is now a 9 year old in the 9-10 age group and Kendall is a 7 year old in the 7-8 age group. The big difference for her is they go from swimming 1/2 the length of the pool as 6 & under, to the full length and she has had to work on her stamina. Justin did very well, finishing 2 and 3 in his heats. If he gets his dives off the block a bit smoother, he'll increase his speed/lower his times quite a bit. Kendall rocked and won both of her heats even with her flubbed diving. I wouldn't be suprised if she is swimming main events this year. They both participated in a freestyle relay to end the morning. We were thankful to be done a half hour earlier than expected as the day started off very hot and humid again. They came straight home to the waterslide with several neighbors and did that for a half hour or so and are probably in for the rest of the day. It's edging close to 100 already and we are expecting a heat index of 105.

Please tell Justin and Kendall good job and congratulations for me! What good little swimmers you're raising! Also, that slide is AWESOME. I couldn't help but think of it a couple days ago when the boys filled their small tool box with water, squeezed into it one-at-a-time, and were so very excited about the "CUGE [huge] SWIMMING POOL" they'd made--I'd better not show them how their cousins roll or they'll realize there's more to water play than sitting still in a gallon of water... Anyway, it looks fun! I'm surprised you don't have all the neighborhood grown-ups hanging around in addition to their kids!
