Justin had a swim meet last night. It was the most glorious day where the weather was concerned. 80 degrees was our high, there was no humidity, no clouds in the sky and a gentle breeze. Perfect for parents who won't be getting in the pool :) No sweating!
Justin swam up in both the medley and freestyle relays and won first place in the medley relay!! Wooohooo! The boys he was with (in the 15-18 year old age bracket) were so encouraging. It was fun to see.
I had a new job at the meet as scorer and was pretty nervous. I didn't realize what all it entailed and how serious it was, meaning if I were to mess up, it would affect the entire outcome of the meet. Yikes. Believe it or not, I calmed down after a few minutes and it all went well. I had prime seating behind where the swimmers line up, so I was able to keep track of when Justin swam and watch him in his events. I also knew for the first time ever, how the teams were doing since I was keeping score. It was neck in neck the entire meet, until butterfly. That's when the other team pulled ahead and remained there throughout the freestyle relays....
Oh well, it was a great night. Justin had a great time socializing and I had a great time enjoying the gorgeous weather. Win or loose, a great time was had by all.
