Kendall is doing three soccer camps this summer. As we were signing up for these camps, I teased Kendall, telling her we were going to "beat some aggressiveness into her", as that is her one area where she could improve.
This week is camp one. When we pulled into Cary Academy on Monday morning, the soccer field was full of boys. She was the only girl to be seen. I could tell she was thinking, "get me outta here mom"...but the coach was very welcoming and told her he was expecting one more girl. Turns out he goes to our church and several of the kids go to the Christian School at our church, so, she recognized a few faces.
Day one ends and her coach greets me with, "Kendall is REAL good. She has some serious skills." I shared with him her need for more aggressiveness and how I thought playing with all boys would be good for this.
Day two, I head back a few minutes early to watch them scrimmage. I watch Kendall going after the ball without hesitation, even though the team she is against is all boys. I watch her score! I watch her take shots. I watch her outrunning boys! (may I add, these are 6th through 9th grade kids she is playing with. Many are considerably bigger than her).
What fun it was to watch! Can't wait to see today's scrimmage and see what she will be doing today :)
