We went to the brand new Great Wolf Lodge that opened a month ago near Charlotte this past Monday and Tuesday. We let the kids each invite a friend and got a "kid cabin" suite that sleeps six. This is not a bad deal as we went on a weekday so rates were lower and the room includes waterpark admission (two days for one nights stay). The kid cabin was arranged like a fort with a log cabin inside our room with bunkbeds and a day bed and then a pull out sofa -clear across the room was a king size bed.
The kids wore themselves out! We hit the waterpark day 1 at 2pm and they closed the place down at 9pm. Seven hours straight; swimming, climbing stairs to the slides and sliding down. Climbing a four story fort, having huge buckets of water dumping on them, lilly pad jumping and pool basketball, body surfing in a wave pool...it was endless.
Throughout the interior of the hotel was an interactive scavenger hunt called Magi Quest that was played til 11pm. Keith and I went to the restaurant and ordered food for everyone while the kids began their game which included running four floors of the hotel completing their missions in this game. When the food got to the table they came to eat and then set off back to their game. Thankfully it ended at 11. Non stop activity! They each took a turn in the shower rinsing off the chlorine, had a chocolate chip cookie for dessert followed by a thorough toothbrushing and then off to bed. I believe their heads hit the pillow after they fell asleep :)
The next morning was breakfast, more magi quest and then several more hours at the waterpark. We left at 5pm to head home. I don't think my kids even left the house the next day, they were so whipped! It was terribly difficult to get photos of them as they were in constant motion, but I tried.
