Unexpected Monday's

You gotta love when a Sunday evening begins to mess with your Monday plans, and the rest of the week, for that matter.  I am doing a very good job at going with the flow today!  Especially since I like when I have a plan and everything goes according to that plan.  (God and I have a running game of this going on for about, oh, 13 years or so now.  He wins every time!)...

It started with hearing on the news last night that we were placed under (yet another) winter weather watch.  Even though none of us had any idea that winter weather was even a remote possibility!  We were supposed to get a twelve hour freezing rain event that would give us slick roads in the morning.  Wouldn't you know it, at 9pm sharp, Wake County decided to delay school by three hours.  Justin had already gone to sleep; Kendall had not.  She decided she might like to stay up til 10 since she could now sleep in.  You see, she had an orthodontist  appointment at 11:50 this morning.  But, if school was delayed by three hours, the new start time would be 11:15, so what was the point in riding the bus and going to school for 15 minutes only to be picked up for the appointment.  The new plan would be to just stay home until time for the appointment.

Right around 10pm, she started feeling stomach cramps and nausea followed quickly by hives.  Keith was kind enough to head out for some Benadryl since we had none.  She had hives throughout her torso, arms and upper legs.  Knowing she has a history of food allergies (shellfish), I started thinking if there were any way she could have come into contact with shellfish.  We ate lunch out at chili's after church and everyone ate their leftovers for dinner.  The only change was a dessert Kendall brought home and had at dinner but had not had any at lunch time.  It had lots of coconut which I believe I have heard can be an allergen to many.  Anyhow, my plan then became to call for an appointment first thing this morning.

I would like to point out, by the way, that there was NO freezing rain, therefore NO reason to delay school today.  Grrrrrrrr...

Bright and early Monday morning, my office calls.  They'd like to know if Justin can come in earlier than 4pm for his sealant appointment.  The one I had no idea about!  What if they hadn't called?  I would have been a NO SHOW in my very own office!!!  Thank goodness they called.  There was one more thing to fit in to my day of getting Kendall to school late, grocery shopping before grabbing Justin from the bus to rush over to the dentist...while still making dinner in time to still get me to my National Charity League meeting by 6.

This day is getting busier than I anticipated...

So, Kendall has an appointment to see the doctor for a blood draw tomorrow (has to leave school a little early to make it happen, UGH).  I take her to the orthodontist.  This was supposed to be the day she gets her head gear fitted, but her upper molars didn't quite move enough for the head gear to fit properly, so...another eight weeks.  The appointment took almost an hour and she had to eat lunch before she could go to school cause she missed her lunch time at school.  This would give her a total of two hours at school at the most.  We decided to just forgo the day at school and instead of a smoothie, we had Urban Turban for lunch.  They had her favorite chicken on the lunch buffet and she was able to eat a few bites before the soreness of her ortho adjustment kicked in.

So...we are in a one hour reprieve before round two of our unexpected busy day kicks in.  The grocery shopping can wait for another day.  See how I am going with the flow??
