A Happy June 1st on the Lake

We had a nice afternoon on Jordan Lake today.  An appropriate way to ring in the summer, I'd say!  Despite a "little" mishap, we enjoyed the gorgeous weather and cool water.  This last picture of me shows a rope around my waist.  I am holding on to the boat, playfully calling it my pet boat.  There is a reason for this.  A reason we are not proud of.  But, I am sure we will look back and laugh someday soon.

We were anchored in the middle of the lake for a swim break when Kendall and her friend decided they would like to tube.  So, we get everything set, they get on the tube and off we go.  200 yards or so later, I hear a funny noise and look toward the noise where I see the rope on the front of the boat jerk.  An odd sight.  A nice, audible clunk and one half second later, I said, "Keith!  The anchor is still down".  Indeed, we failed to pull the anchor up and drug it those estimated 200 yards before it was sawed off by the propeller!!!!  Today was a more costly day on the water as we will have the honor of replacing the anchor and prop on the boat :(  What a way to start the season, right?   I am pretty certain we will never, ever forget the anchor again.

We now are responsible for two anchors at the base of Jordan Lake.  One of them from our second season boating when my friend threw the anchor overboard and it wasn't attached to the boat :)  Today, I can only imagine the trench that was dug at the floor of the lake by that anchor!!!!

All in all a great day.  One of many afternoons on the lake this summer.  We sure do love it out there :)
