After returning home Monday night, I spent Tuesday exhausted (excess sun, maybe?). Kendall came home from school not feeling great. She went to school Wednesday loaded up with motrin and made it through her end of grade testing in language arts. I promptly got a call at noon to come get her. She came home and slept for about four hours and then woke with a fever of 103. A quick visit to the doctor ruled out strep, so we came home where she was basically unable to stay awake. Her fever peaked at 106 (yikes!) at 9pm...I got quite concerned at this time, and was tempted to go to the ER. We gave her another good dose of motrin and started using cool washcloths and within an hour her temperature was miraculously down to 99 degrees!! We put her to bed at 10 and I stayed up til 12:30 to monitor her.
She came into our room this morning all smiles reporting her temperature was normal upon waking. She wanted desperately to take her math EOG test so she wouldn't have to attend a make up test date. With more motrin in her system, she was off to school with plans to be picked up at 12:30 for an orthodontic appointment and then more rest at home.
Needless to say, my week home and off from work hasn't quite turned out the way I planned!! I had plans for some chores, a pedicure, lunch dates. None of that has happened :(
I am thankful that I was able to be here at home for her though. I would have felt bad had she been ill with Keith's parents here. I will feel horrible if they end up sick! They are back in Ohio now, so at least they aren't here while she's sick and can be in the comfort of their own home if they do get this bug.
High hopes remain for one lunch date tomorrow with my fellow hygienist who I never get to see because we work opposite days now. If things go super smooth, I might still fit in the pedicure too!!
Ooooh, we also have our first trip out on the boat Saturday. We are all very excited. If we can all stay healthy for it, that is. Fingers crossed :)
