So...the concert was FUN!! The Eat n Greet was great! We went in to the dinner (picnic style, outdoors, with fencing all around) and each member of the band was lined up to shake hands and greet us. Dinner consisted of recipes from Zac Brown himself, which he described himself before dinner was served. All ingredients were local from a nearby farmer- they formed the menu around what was available. There were at least six vegetable dishes, including FRIED GREEN TOMATOES- done the way fried green tomatoes are supposed to be done (I saved mine for last and am so glad I did). There were two bbq dishes, which I politely declined, with no hesitation from the band members serving. My plate was perfectly full already :) The bass player came and sat down right across the table from us to eat his meal. He was so down to earth, very friendly. They announced prior to dinner being served that no photos or autographs would be allowed, that the band just wanted to hang with us...everyone honored that request and it made for the most relaxed, fun little dinner I could've ever imagined. The bass player, who I think is "Hopper", Hop for short, is going to have twin baby girls in two weeks. They are due June 15, but his wife has been on bed rest for a month already and they are scheduled for delivery June 15. I think they'll arrive on June 13th!!!
After the eat and greet, we walked around the amphitheater and had a beer while watching the TONS of people who appeared to have been tailgating since 9am that day. Drunker that I have ever seen. Beyond oblivion. One guy came up to us and said "where's my meat." Or "where's my meaning". We couldn't tell. He looked close to throwing up and I feared he would vomit on one of us. Thankfully, security came and took him away. There were MANY of these types. It was great entertainment and therefore, we didn't go to our seats until after the two opening acts. We sat (8 rows from the stage, mind you), just before Zac Brown hit the stage.
We stood the entire concert. Why have seats?? The music was very good. They played the two songs I recognized! They played many more I enjoyed and now know! I am a fan!!
We were so thankful for our ride waiting to whisk us away when the concert was over. We were home safely by 11:30. Feeling great today! I wonder how all those drunk people are doing today? :-(
What a fun night! Great music, great food, great company and perfect weather!!
