Memorial Day Feast

Musta been in the mood to cook today... as it is memorial day and I cooked most of the day (had a blast doing it, I might add).   When Keith requested chicken legs on the grill with bbq sauce, I thought having some grilled bbq shrimp might be nice to go along with that.  Keith wanted jack daniel's bbq sauce and I figured I could make my own, so I did.  It was quite delicious.  Along with the chicken and shrimp, we had corn on the cob (taken off the cob for the two in braces), I also skewered some yellow squash, zucchini and red onion and those kabobs went on the grill.  And, what is a memorial day bbq without baked beans? There were hardly any of those left.  For dessert, it was strawberry shortcake with homemade whipped cream, that Kendall made for us.  Delish!

I have thought of each of our family members today, even though I haven't made it near the phone today.  Between standing at the stove and chopping board today, we have also been recovering from a weekend full of activity.  Boating, birthday parties, porch parties, church, and the like have kept us busy these past three days.
Oh, and laundry.  There's always the laundry :)

Hope you have all had a wonderful long weekend.  Happy Memorial Day..
