Like much of our summer, last weeks forecast included rain. (I am not complaining about our summer whatsoever. It has been one of low humidity for the most part, mild temperatures and plenty of rain to avoid being in a draught).
We had plans to go to Wrightsville Beach. Those plans changed at least four times as we worked around changes in my work schedule, rainy forecasts, and Kendall's insistence that she not miss soccer practice.
It ended up that the boys went a day ahead of us and stayed for two nights. Kendall and I went Thursday, stayed the night and came back home Friday morning.
Thursday was a day of mild temperatures, gorgeous blue skies, low humidity, gentle breeze, busy but uncrowded beach, water so clear you could see the ocean floor, no undertow, moderate waves....pretty much all you could ask for!
We spent the whole day enjoying the waves, sun, frisbee, football, reading; on the beach til about 6pm. We showered and went down to the restaurant to enjoy some seafood and then onto the patio to sit in rocking chairs and listen to the steel drum band playing. It was perfect!
