Most of summer has flown by without as much as a word of hello from this blog. This was the fastest passing summer since I became a mom. I really enjoyed my teenagers this summer. They were FUN to hang out with!
We had many adventures and made lots of memories...I think I will share these by event because I have pictures to share too.
We are starting our last week of summer break. This will be a week spent getting prepped for school. Today, while Kendall attends a birthday party for a good friend, I will be taking Justin shopping for school clothes and taking him to lunch...my chance to have some one on one time with him without the distraction of friends, dads, sisters. Kendall gets her turn for the same one on one Wednesday. She also gets to head over to the high school and walk through her schedule so she will feel more confident on the first day.
Wednesday night is going to be exciting for us. We, along with a bunch of friends and her entire team, will be watching a friendly soccer match between the US Women's team and Switzerland. Keith's company sponsors the world cup and we were blessed with a bunch of tickets that we shared with a bunch of people and have almost an entire section where we will all be seated together. Hope Solo, Abby Wambauch, Alex Morgan, etc. Can't wait.
Speaking of soccer, I think I will go ahead and share our weekend first. Kendall's club team played their first tournament in Winston-Salem. Half of her team is new as some left after last year, so they were replaced by new players. Unfortunately it's a roster of only 13, giving us two subs, therefore the praying for health and no injuries has already begun. They played two games on Saturday and had a win and a tie. They played the semi final Sunday and won (Kendall had a beautiful score) and then the championship loss late in the afternoon. Without subs, it is so hard to play that 4th game. We saw the other team sub in 5 players at a time. It was very humid and one of our midfielders had a horrible asthma attack. One of our wings had terrible leg & foot cramps. The rest were wiped out. They played an awesome game, but came up
short one goal. I've included pictures. I have really loved watching Kendall not only improve on her skills, but her aggressiveness and attack of the ball has just clicked and as the one thing I've been wanting to see more of, it was so fun to see her go at it! She's taking all corner kicks this year and there is no one who can cross a ball like she does. She makes me so proud :)
(No idea why the photos inserted themselves in the middle of my text, no idea how to fix it...hey,it's only for family and friends! You will forgive me right? That last photo isn't Kendall either! Only my dad will understand the bizarre layout of this post)
