The kids came home with smiles on their faces. Both were beaming. Justin is not a guy with many words to say, unless they are mumbled followed by "never mind" when we ask him to repeat what he said. He also is not nervous about school and has been through a year of middle school...so he was kindof too cool for school after the initial smiles and reporting of it being a great day. He's also recovering from surgery and therefore not really feeling quite himself.
My story is regarding "Miss Thang". My girl. My nervous, timid, quiet daughter who was D-R-E-A-D-I-N-G the first day of middle school. She came up the driveway with so many teeth showing, I couldn't believe it. Shouting "it was AWESOME" (that's her go to word for anything beyond great). She couldn't get her stories out fast enough. Couldn't get enough details out of her mouth. Couldn't stop dancing around the house, prissing about and organizing all of her papers into just-the-right-spot in her lime green binder.
It is obvious that she feels like a big shot now and is loving it. She couldn't wait to get up and ready this morning. Could barely pause long enough for a hug before strutting to the bus stop. Smiling as broad as the hurricane that is approaching us as I type :)
Maybe Kendall and middle school are going to get along just fine! I am so thankful for this confidence (pertaining to school) that I haven't seen since Kindergarten. Long time coming.... :-)
