Well, just when I had carefully planned out almost every waking moment of the next six days, the number of days we have left til school starts...each one of them necessary to get ready to go back to school, a wrench is thrown into my plans. It's a game God and I play. He does not like it when I plan in too much detail. But I am a planner. We struggle with this all the time. Well, not WE but I because God always wins!! :) I am not learning this lesson from Him very easily.
Anyhow...
We visited the orthopaedic doctor yesterday morning for Justin's follow up appointment just as the ER doc asked us to. After waiting almost an hour in the room, the nicest man comes in and says that he looked at the xrays we brought by disc from the ER and that he isn't even going to unwrap Justin's splinted finger. He says that Justin needs to see a hand specialist and will most likely need surgery because of where the finger broke (very close to the middle knuckle). He said that it would be very hard to keep the finger in place long enough to heal. They schedule us an appointment with the hand specialist for Monday afternoon. We leave and go to office max to buy school supplies, then to get haircuts. When we arrive home, there is a message from the doctor we just saw. His message asked me to call him on his cell, that the hand doctor had looked at the xrays and said there was no point in an office visit, that he can tell by the xray and the way the finger is currently lined up that surgery is necessary. We don't have time for this!! They have him scheduled for Tuesday morning :(
I was scheduled to work Tuesday. The kids are due to be at school to meet their homeroom teachers and find out their teams on Tuesday. Scratch those off the list...
So, it remains to be seen how next week will pan out. It remains to be seen if Justin will be able to start school on Thursday. But, I think I will step back and let God guide this coming week :)
