Well, this update is overdue because my computer had no service all day. I had planned to get up this morning and blog photos, etc after breakfast. I only know how to post photos in one way and it puts them all at the top, so this will be a collection of photos from caroling on Thursday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and then snow pictures from today. It started snowing last night around 6pm...and there was minor ground coverage when I went to bed at 11...so officially a white Christmas (the last one I experienced was Justin's first Christmas when we were living in Louisville and it snowed 5 inches on Christmas Eve). We woke this morning to 5 inches and it continued to snow into the early afternoon. We estimate having 7 inches based on our ruler measurements, reports have said 8, but to me, once you pass 5 or 6 inches, who's really counting unless you hit a foot or more!! Our lights flickered a few times near noon and I got nervous thinking "I don't want so much snow that we lose power!", but it never did more than flicker and maybe take out internet service. The snow was one that stuck to the branches beautifully and made for an absolute perfect winter wonderland...a dream come true for a girl who grew up in Florida DREAMING about snow :)
Also, Christmas, Christmas Eve and today were perfectly relaxing. I successfully made my first pumpkin pie, with Nicci's boiling water pie crust recipe and my own whipped cream. Why haven't I done my own pumpkin pie before? It was so easy and tasted perfect. I will never again buy cool whip either. I continue to learn and grow in the kitchen where I should have had this all down at least 10 years ago. Oh well, better late than never!
Keith, his parents and I have been playing euchre much of the afternoon and evening. The kids spent more of their day outside than inside enjoying snowball fights, sledding and the like. It is fun for them to be at an age where they can go enjoy the neighborhood with some independence- they seemed to enjoy that.
Merry Christmas and happy winter wonderland!
