Above are some snapshots of the weekend in progress for the kids. Kendall is with me here at home, while Justin is in the mountains with Keith, Scott, Nathan, Dave and Ray. Here he is fishing on Saturday where I am told he caught more than 11 fish. Altogether, the took 15 pounds of trout back to the cabin with them and that is what was had for dinner along with (health conscious people, esp. carb counters, listen up) rolls, creamed corn and baked potatoes!! That is such a "dads in charge" kind of meal :) I am told they are having a blast. This fishing spot looks very appealing to me, I wouldn't mind a getaway in this area sometime.
Now, on to the "best laid plans" that this post is titled for. Everything for Kendall has turned out different than expected, but we are not complaining. Meghan was our guest on Friday. She was invited to come for dinner and a half sleepover. Turns out that she ended up staying all night. They had a very nice time together. Lydia came Saturday just before noon. She was invited to stay for a sleepover, but, at 3pm it became evident that the sore throat she had that her mom felt was allergy related, was in fact illness related and so she went home. Kendall was so bummed. So, though unplanned, she and I headed out to buy some nail polish to paint her nails; something we've wanted to do for several weeks and just hadn't made the time for. She picked out a blue polish and we also got a nail art pen in a darker shade of blue. Then we got a movie to watch, "alvin and the chipmunks 2", and a new book for Kendall. She then requested fajitas from chili's for dinner, so we got takeout before heading home to have our girlie night of movies, fajitas, toenail painting, baths and then a good nights sleep. Not a bad turn in plans in my book.
Today, Chelsea is here playing and I am getting ready to make soft tacos for them for lunch. However, I've just been called next door by my New Orleans native neighbor for Benet's that she is cooking in her driveway as we speak. Yum!
