My book club met tonight. I joined this book club in August and I must say, I feel so intelligent each month when I go! We discussed a memoir by Terri Cheney called Manic, about- you guessed it- bipolar disorder. Terri Cheney was a successful entertainment attorney in Los Angeles who suffered from severe bi polar disorder for many, many years. Her extremes were hard to fathom. Happily, she is now stabilized with medication and is an advocate for mental health issues. It pleases me to have something to add to our discussions each month...which is why I feel intelligent on book club meeting days :-) Our host, Ashley, is living in a new neighborhood adjacent to ours and in a home built by our builder that is officially the same floor plan. They changed much of their lower level which made it much fun to look around. She also put out quite a spread of appetizers. A fun evening for sure.
Now, on to the tid-bits:
1. my family (being Keith, Justin and Kendall) are awesome at Rock Band. they rock on both guitar and drums. hungry like the wolf and eye of the tiger are their specialties. Keith also enjoys spirit in the sky. I, however, am completely spastic on both instruments. Those notes come at you so fast that I honestly FREAK OUT. Those three songs are embedded in my brain to the point that I might very well go mad!
2. kelly clarkson has a catchy new tune out called my life would suck without you. If I'm not humming the above mentioned songs from rock band, I'm humming her new tune. It might also drive me mad. I love Kelly Clarkson. I love american idol. I was brought to tears yet again by american idol just a couple of hours ago.
3. there is a contestant on american idol that i'm quite drawn to. i don't know her name, but she has flaming red hair and is a mere 16 years old and has a voice that could knock your socks off. she sang alone by heart and with that, made it through to the top 12. that song is from the 80's, in which i have a strong affinity to music from that decade. i'll definately be hoping to hear more good things from her this season.
4. my new washing machine, stella, held a set of king size sheets and full size sheets at the same time and they came out smelling cleaner than anything I've ever smelled in my life. i'm very happy with stella and look forward to many, many years of laundry with her!
5. justin has finally stopped wheezing and coughing and is sleeping well at night again. now kendall is coughing :( she is doing a play with her class tomorrow that we will get to go watch. it is the three little pigs done in spanish. she has been rehearsing daily. we are looking forward to watching her tomorrow. i'm sure i will be posting photos afterwards!
I guess that's it for my tid-bits! Night all!
