Here she is finishing up the race.

Keith at the 1 mile point...looking strong!

And the race begins...

Our annual neighborhood 5K fundraiser run/walk for the swim team was this morning. We had all planned to participate, but it's been a rough week in our household. Kendall was home sick with a cold & low grade fever on Monday. She was fine Tuesday and Wednesday, but developed what appeared to be pink eye Wednesday evening. She was home again Thursday; Keith took her to the doctor where it was confirmed that she did have pink eye AND an ear infection. She was ready to go back to school Friday, when Keith woke up with his eyes matted shut (yep, pink eye) and Justin woke up with Kendall's cold and a fever. My throat has been sore since Thursday...point being...Justin and I didn't participate in the race. We did however, cheer on the runners and walkers. We didn't expect Kendall to take on the 5K, she never practiced for it. She was adamant about doing it though. As she headed up to the start, she found a friend and they stuck together through the whole race! Keith ran it in 30:30 and Kendall finished in 45:00. A great job for both! Kendall fell down at some point, as she came back with a skinned knee. There were many runners who didn't live in the neighborhood, I heard comments about the course being a challenging one (plenty of hills) and how wonderful to have all the neighbors out cheering them on. It was a pretty great way to spend a Saturday morning, even if you are sick!
