American Idol & Other Stuff

Well, I'm sad to see American Idol come to an end, but SO happy that the two David's were in the final. I was torn as to who I wished would win. Archuletta has a beautiful voice, though I'm not sure I'd buy his style of music. Cook won me over with Billie Jean and though most everyone I talked to thought he should win but wouldn't cause he's the "rocker", I guess my allegience was slightly on his side. When he won, I was on the phone with my mom, who was in a hotel room in D.C. watching and my kids (who are tracked out of school) were watching with me, I screamed a very shrill scream of joy when DAVID COOK WON! Last night was a great finale. Archuletta made me cry with his "Don't let the sun go down on me"- was delivered impeccably. But, I did cast one vote for Cook. Can you believe something like 97 Millon votes were made last night??? Unbelieveable.

Okay, in addition to American Idol, we did lots of stuff today.
1. Justin had an ortho appointment. Supposedly to get impressions for an expander. They didn't tell me, therefore I didn't tell Justin, but they fit him for bands on his molars and then placed spacers. He initally called me a liar for not telling him, but once I assured him I didn't know they were doing that, he was okay with it, albeit, very sore. Three weeks til appliances go on. Wish us luck :)
2. Haircuts for the kids at a salon/spa. They've decided they are spa kids...they were won over by the scalp and then hands/arms massage given when in the shampoo bowl.
3. Kendall had a check up. First full check up since moving here. We had a hard time settling on a physician here, but found one board certified in internal medicine and pediatrics. She got a hepatitis A vaccine and chicken pox booster and has a very sore left arm, but it didn't stop her from....
4. Swim practice. Second practice this year. Last night was cancelled due to a very severe thunderstorm. The water is freezing as our temps have been the most pleasant 70 ish degrees, but that isn't warm enough to warm the waters. They came out shivering and slightly blue, but smiling!
5. Brownie year end cookout, our backyard. This was rescheduled from last night due to those violent storms I mentioned earlier. The girls recieved their remaining try-it's for the year, cookie sales prizes and patches and pins for participation this year. The three leaders were given gift certificates to that very same spa I mentioned earlier. The moms who bought them gave the names of who they were buying for and the receptionist at the spa said, "oh, woolery, yes, we know her well. she's actually coming in this afternoon with her kids". I plan to get a pedicure with mine. Annette is their nail person and gives the best pedicure I've ever received.
I also got a mothers day gift from this place and scheduled my facial and massage for after the kids track back in. Talk about pampering heaven!! Love it!

After all this excitement, we came in to watch the American Idol results. It topped off a busy day with pure joy, excitement and relaxation. Can't wait to buy D. Cook's album. Sorry, mom, that your guy didn't win!

Oh, my gramps in in the hospital tonight. He's having some problems related to congestive heart failure, but should be released Thursday. I'm praying for you, gramps, and hope anyone reading this post will also pray for you to recover quickly. Hugs & kisses to the guy who "won't stop"!!!
