A couple of loads off, a little R & R, and a school year winding down...

I am a little surprised to look on this blog and see that it's been more than a month since my last post. It went by fast.

Since the last check in, we have finished up a lacrosse and soccer season.  It is very nice to get to be at home in the evenings rather than running around, sometimes in several directions.  It's been less than a week, but I am getting used to it already :)

The hygienists in my office have been busy filling in for each other in the past few weeks.  I got my turn two weeks ago by working the entire four day week.  It was exhausting and I am so glad I don't do it regularly!  The office closes tomorrow for the rest of May which means I am done as of now for a week and a half... and Keith and I leave for Jamaica Thursday before the crack of dawn!  I am looking forward to the trip, the relaxation, time alone with Keith and the Caribbean atmosphere!  I plan to eat lots of fruit and seafood, specifically lobster if possible.  We will be at a Sandals property in Negril.  I will take lots of pictures!! :)

Hanging over my head for several months were two things.  One of them was my assignment of historian for our chapter in the National Charity League.  After months of a crazy procedure to get photos from email or camera card to picasa and then to a website, I was dreading the scrapbook that I would be required to do...and digital at that!  So, after procrastinating as long as I could, I chose last Wednesday as my day to begin the dreaded project.  I wanted to have it done before the trip this week, so cleared my calendar for Wednesday, Friday and Saturday to work on it.  It was frustrating, grueling, ridiculous and I cursed a few times....but working from 8am Wednesday until 1:30am Thursday morning...I finished!!  16 hours of sitting at the computer.  DONE!  What a relief and so thankful to have that job complete.

The second item was the team manager duties for Kendall's club soccer team.  After having the job for almost 4 years and having to hand-hold the parents of 16 team members and a coach...I have happily passed the torch to the next sucker!! :)  Kendall is now a member of a new team, playing a level up from where she has been playing, referred to as classic, as well as with a new league (closer drive by about 20 minutes!), we are happy to move on to the next chapter of soccer experiences.

As for school, the "work" is pretty well over.  Justin is home til next Tuesday because he chose not to go on the 8th grade field trip to D.C.  Factor in the long weekend and school is so close to done.  The kids take their standardized tests next week on Wednesday and Thursday and then there are the awards ceremonies, parties, picnics, yearbook signings and such...and it's summertime!!  Justin has an 8th grade formal to attend.  The big talk among moms and boys around here is whether to take a date or go in groups of friends.  It seems like groups of friends won out, though Cameron, a very good friend and the sweetest kid Justin knows, has not one, but two dates.  When he was over Friday night, I suggested he share a date with the rest of the guys.  He is truly stressed about having two girls as dates. The first of many girl issues for this kid.  Not only is he sweet, but he's adorable too.

So....this is my pre- Jamaica update.  Long overdue check in...but look for some photos of beautiful tropical beaches and ocean to follow next week :)
