TGIF!

It's Friday!  The kids have an early release from school.  We have minimal commitments this weekend. The weather is terrific.  Florida State is not only on TV Saturday night, but college game day will be in Tallahassee!  It will be a day long celebration in our house!!  I will make chili :)

It will feel good to slow the pace down a bit.  The kids have plans outside of the home, so it might be a bit quieter than usual.  I welcome that.  We've been going full tilt since the start of school almost a month ago.  Early mornings are followed by the busiest of days, plenty of evening homework, a family meal, then repacking to do it all over again.

There has been a LOT of soccer in our house as well.  Six to seven days of soccer a week.  However, this is a rare three days as there is no school practice today and no club games this weekend.  No grassy cleats shall enter my home for three whole days!  No smelly shinguards to wash!!

I do want to share that Kendall had her first school game yesterday.  The photo above is after the game, where she is modeling the school uniform.  So, her team won 6-0.  The county soccer rule is that if a team is ahead by 6, the winning team is not allowed to take any further shots on goal.  So, out of the 60 minute game, 45 minutes were spent playing keep away.  They got great practice passing the ball to each other but at the same time, it was sad for the other team, who were trying so hard and it was like we were toying with them.  But that's what had to be done.  Before the game starts, they play a five minute "5th quarter" as a warm up.  Kendall scored the first goal during that time, therefore, scoring the first goal of the season!  That five minutes ended at 2-0.  In the real game, Kendall scored goal #6!  She is part of a very talented team and she is loving every minute.  This team went on to win the conference last year, I could see it happening again.  Either way, we are going to have fun watching.

Justin is doing something that pleases Keith and I very much.  He's been playing guitar for 4 or more years now.  When he's ready to work on a new song, he will occasionally ask for requests.  I asked him to take on the Satriani song "always with you, always with me".  It is pure guitar heaven.  He's learning it and rocking it!  I can't wait for the finished product, but being that it's a five minute song, it will probably take months until he's got the whole thing mastered.  Something to look forward to!  In addition to that, he's preparing to try out for the school lacrosse team this spring.  He played a good amount over the summer and though this is more of an off season, he is in a weekend league as well as working with a high school player twice a week.  This high school kid, Anthony, is very prompt, eager and effective.  We are so happy to have found him.  So, I guess that means I will have one pair of grassy cleats in the house this weekend, they will be Justin's.  He's also having a grand time with his math course this year.  He's taking algebra 1 as an 8th grader and will get high school credit for this course.  Pretty impressive, I'd say.  He's one smart dude!

Well, this got longer than I anticipated.  I have a closet waiting to be cleaned out.  I am going away to a scrapbooking girls weekend with a friend in two weeks and must get myself organized or I will be there with no idea what to work on.  It's been several months since I've done anything, so I really need and look forward to this time to spend 48 hours doing nothing but scrapping.  So, off I go to organize.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
