Happy 5th of July!

We are still recovering from our July 4th holiday.  Not because we drank or ate too much, but because it was absolutely action packed.  No one can claim boredom in this household.  We are still trying to see the last guests out the door :)

We started the day with some time on the lake.  We headed out at 9:30 where we tubed and swam to our hearts content.  We headed home around 2 because we had cookout plans for later as well as three households of pets to care for.  Kendall was hired by two families to feed pet fish and one cat.  Justin was hired by our next door neighbors to care for their dogs, Jazz & Bubbles.  They came to our house for dinner and to hang out (we LOVE these dogs),  they went back to their house so they could be safe in their own environment for the fireworks that started around dark.

We planned to get together with the Niederkorn's for a cookout and fireworks in the evening.  The Libbus family always has awesome fireworks, so we asked them to come down early as well.  This party grew and grew until we had quite a crowd.  Maybe 50-70 adults and kids at one time!  This photo was the original clan we were expecting plus a brother here, an extra friend there.  It is taken in front of our house with the Pepsi guy and his Pepsi truck and cooler.  He was at the marina earlier giving away a new product if you agreed to let him photograph you with the pepsi can.  Keith asked him to stop by later at a neighborhood cookout.  We were surprised he actually came.  He brought lots of free pepsi, took some photos, and even stayed for a kabob.

The fireworks were mayhem!  So many adult boys, aka dads, and sooo many kids.  Fireworks going off everywhere.  The police even showed up!  The officer was very nice and complimented us on the good adult supervision.  He felt our fireworks were very mild compared to the stops he was planning in the back end of the 'hood.  He asked us to please wind it down by 10:30 due to the town noise ordinance, and we did.   No harm done.

As if this weren't enough fun & excitement, we decided to have three extra kids stay for the night.  The girls were asleep by around 2, the boys, approximately 4.  Can you understand why I might be taking a down day today?

This has to go down as the most social summer our family has had.  Yet we are only three weeks in!  I predict it will go down as one of the best.  There has just been non-stop fun.  Quick trips, day trips, local fun things to do. Movies.  Invites to parties/sleepovers.  Going here & there.  Sports camps.  When we get a quiet day, we really relish it because there is always a flurry of activity close behind!

Awesomely exhaustingly fun summer break!
