my poor guy :(

Justin had toenail surgery today. After trying to correct a terrible ingrown toenail since about September, I've been threatening to make an appointment to see a specialist for almost two weeks. He came home from school Tuesday and I looked at it and decided enough was enough... it was beginning to look really infected. I made an appt for Monday afternoon. But, when he came home limping yesterday and the toe looked even worse...I pretty much panicked and decided to call the doctor back and ask for an earlier appt, even if it meant Justin missing his core classes at school. We were able to get a 9:30 appointment this morning. Keith took him (thank goodness, cause I probably would've been crying with Justin during the procedure). Three shots to the toenail bed (OUCH) then approximately 1/8th of an inch of buried nail into the side of the toe was removed. The doctor asked Justin how he was even able to walk. The boy has been playing football three times a week like this! Keith felt so bad for Justin and since he'd already missed all four core classes, let him come home to rest. The anesthetic is wearing off and soreness is returning. Makes me cringe to think about. We watched a movie in front of the fireplace and snuggled. It's cold and rainy, a perfect day for just that.
