The Most Wonderful Cruise…..
We spent spring break this year on one of the most spectacular vacations. We cruised for seven luxurious nights on the Oasis Of The Seas- a Royal Caribbean ship. The current largest ship in the world! To say we had the best time would be an understatement!
We had friends on board. The kids had friends on board. The weather was perfect. We went into parts in Haiti, Jamaica as well as Cozumel, Mexico.
Haiti's stop was on a private island owned by RC. It was all beaches with mountains in the background. A day of beaching it with lunch stations all over the island. It was gorgeous!
I think all of us would vote Jamaica our favorite stop. The music, the people, the island, the waters. It's just magical. The locals are my favorite. We went to a private beach that day where we enjoyed the beach, reggae music, jerk chicken, a nice walk as well as interacting with locals who were selling their hand-made goods. It was such a relaxing and happy day!
Cozumel was interesting. Justin went to the Mayan Ruins with the Neiderkorns and had a blast. Kendall, Kaelin and Keith and I went into town were the girls were almost immediately turned off by the aggressive locals pushing their goods. They opted not to join us for snorkeling or lunch, so we saw them back to the boat while Keith and I rented a snorkel and mask and saw some great coral reef and fish by swimming right from the beach. I was swimming next to a barracuda which definitely shortened my time in the water. After some time in the water, we had a lunch right in a local open air restaurant and it did not disappoint!
We had three full days at sea, basically circling Cuba, where was saw no land whatsoever. Talk about relaxation! I just can't say enough about how nice it was. I worried I would never be able to find the kids (as we rarely saw them), but they got to know where to find us during the day. We all ate dinner together with the exception of a couple nights, the girls decided on other dining options. We saw shows most nights with the Neiderkorn's with the comedy being my favorite. I laughed so hard I could hardly contain myself…I love laughing like that :)
The sleeping accommodations were terrific. Justin, Keith and I were in a balcony cabin, and I LOVE having a balcony when all you see is the Ocean. I captured some beautiful sunsets from that balcony. Kendall & Kaelin were directly across the hall from us in a cabin with a HUGE window overlooking the royal promenade. They enjoyed that very much and their cabin was every bit as roomy as ours if not more so.
The only negative about the entire trip was the 12 hour drive each way to Ft. Lauderdale…but I think we would all say it was worth it for the vacation…hoping to do it again one of these days!!!
