Surviving week one.

Well, it's Friday night and we have survived the first week back to school.  The hardest part, for me at least, was the early wake up time.  The kids seemed to do just fine with it.  I was dying by Wednesday. But...we made it through.  (I made it through)

Both kids love their classes and teachers so far.  Both have had an enthusiastic start to the year.  Kendall started school soccer tryouts yesterday.  She made cuts both days and has one more day of tryouts, on Tuesday. She looks phenomenal and I have no doubt she will not only be on the team, but will again be a key player for her school.   Justin is ready to get involved in a couple of school clubs.  DECA-a marketing club, and Young Life- a Christian organization.  When not in school or doing homework, he is rocking out with his new amplifier.  He just completed Carry On Wayward Son.  I never realized how much guitar jamming is in that song.  He does it nearly perfect.  He just started a Guns n Roses song, Welcome to the Jungle.  I love listening to him play. He's incredible!

Keith and I began some yard work this afternoon.  We pulled weeds in the planting beds, Keith trimmed the bushes, and we are putting mulch down as we complete an area.  I did most of the weeding.  I even held plank position as I weeded to make it more of a workout.  Guess what?  Weeding is plenty of exercise..there is no need to add anything to it.  I weeded until I was ready to collapse.  (Granted, there were a whole lotta weeds to pull).

Tonight is the first home football game for Panther Creek High School.  Justin had plans to go with some friends.  Kendall had plans to meet some friends at the game.  Keith met up with several neighbors.  I remembered that I had six dozen cookies to bake, due to be delivered to brown bag ministries by 9:30am.  So, I happily bailed on the game tonight so I am not baking at midnight.  I am exhausted and sore.  I have a feeling I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight. And...no alarm tomorrow!!!
Whoooot!!!!!
