Someone has been complaining about my lack of blogging...I won't name any names...so here is a super quick update on why I have not been at my computer long enough to blog...
We are full swing into spring sports, even though the weather isn't feeling very spring-like. Justin tried out for (and made) middle school lacrosse. They practice about 4-5 times per week (when not rained out) all the way across Cary. It is about the least convenient thing...but when the time changes, they will move over here near us. This team is being coached by the high school coaches where he will be next year, so it's a great opportunity to get to know them and show them his growth this season in hopes of playing for the high school. When he isn't out getting muddy doing lacrosse, he is usually found on his guitar. He is currently learning a song by Metallica and he is playing beautifully these days!
Kendall has two weeks left of winter indoor soccer. In addition to that, outdoor has started practicing, and they have a tournament in Myrtle Beach this weekend. If that weren't enough, her ambassador team is starting to meet and practice. She is also meeting with a forward from our local professional team for one on one personal training sessions to prepare for classic tryouts, which occur in May. Oh, and, she tried out for the school track team and made it. Her speed is the talk of the school in the athletic circle. Apparently she is really, really fast. I can't wait to watch her at her first meet in two weeks!
So, as you can imagine, I am living in the car, driving kids around. I am also in the busy season of my "job" as historian for our chapter of National Charity League, as it's time to make the chapter scrapbook for the year. I won't be sad when this job is over :) Kendall and I recently attended our cultural event, by seeing a live performance of Mary Poppins. It was fantastic. On Saturday night, she and I volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill, where we made dinner and served it to the guests staying there. What a rewarding experience- and what a way to be made aware of how blessed we are with the health of family.
Did you know that I have a kid who is a mere six months away from being a high schooler? We are smack in the middle of choosing classes this week. His middle school teachers have recommended him for all honors classes...which of course makes a parent proud.
Oh- and let me not leave out that doctors appointments, reading and researching online have taken up a huge chunk of time. Kendall had allergy testing, which had to be followed up by more allergy testing with a specialist. Then we decided to have Justin tested for foods. We've gone from several allergies to none for Kendall and a bunch for Justin...all in trying to figure out a rash that Kendall has on her face, that today's appointment with a dermatologist was found to be inflammation dermatitis and not an allergy at all...though they have no idea (nor seemed to care) what the cause of the inflammation might be. Traditional doctors really irk me sometimes. They are happy to find a reason to give a medication and send you out the door. But, that is a rant for another day....
So, this is what has kept me away from the computer for 20 days- as was pointed out to me. :) I will try to do better. Happy Monday!!!!
