Superbowl Sunday- a few days late

We were excited for Superbowl Sunday to arrive. Justin has become a huge Saints fan over the course of the year and even redecorated his bedroom in black and gold recently. We had promised him a celebration if the Saints or Cardinals were in the Superbowl, so once the Saints won their playoff game, we invited over the families of his two best friends for dinner and game watching. The afternoon of Superbowl, Justin had a basketball game to play. Herein lies a story all its own...

For the first time this season, Justin's team was matched with one of similar ability (read: less than average in skill as a team). The game was neck in neck the entire time. As the seconds ran off the clock, the boys really fought for those last shots in order to win the game. Regulation time ended in a tie, which in this league means a three minute overtime. Again, the boys were back and forth taking shots and missing, turning the ball over and fouling a bunch. Everyone was playing aggessively. With a minute and a half left in OT and no score since regulation ended, a teammate throws in an out of bounds ball, to Justin who is standing right in front of the basket. It went in!! His team went ahead by two. After much more running up and down court, more fouls and missed free throws by the other team, time runs out and Justin's team wins for the first time this season. And to top it off, Justin gets credit for the only score in overtime, giving his team the victory. We knew then that this was going to be a good sports day and that the Saints would win their game too.

Needless to say, Justin was fired up by kickoff time. His friends came with their families. We enjoyed watching a good game, having some good barbeque and celebrating a great victory for the Saints!
