On Being Domestic

I spent all day yesterday cleaning and organizing my kitchen, pantry and refrigerator. Something in the fall air gets me in the mood to cook. I couldn't enjoy my cooking without a clean and well organized kitchen as well as supplies. Everything (and I mean everything) came out of every drawer and cabinet. Each shelf was wiped down and many items were relocated to a more sensible place for functionality. Many odds and ends were tossed. I felt so happy and at peace afterward. I showed it all to Keith. He didn't seem to understand my joy in all I had accomplished. That's okay though. I did it because I wanted to.

Today, I am cooking a pot roast for dinner in my new Dutch Oven. I've wanted a dutch oven for several years, but never got around to actually buying one. It is beautiful; red glazed cast iron. While in Arizona, I spent a good deal of time looking through a cookbook Nicci and her sisters each contributed to. It was much like a scrapbook as it had stories, photos as well as the recipes. I copied many down. The pot roast I am cooking is one of those recipes. It had several ingredients I've never used in a pot roast. It smells delicious. I'm feeling quite domestic today and loving every minute of it!

Sounds yummy! I have been wanting to deep-clean my kitchen for so long. But at the rate I'm going, that'll probably wait until we move. It was so very fun to see you guys--I can't wait til next time!
