Camping in Asheville
The kids and I joined Mom & Riad in Asheville for some camping. We were right on the French Broad River about 10 miles north of Asheville with beautiful scenery. We did some tubing on the river which was a shallow class 1 "rapid" in the area we were in. The water was refreshing. The first time down the river was like a comedy show. I was freaking out over every leaf that fell (convinced they were bugs and spiders, of course). Our second time, we saw two snakes sunbathing on a rock two or three feet from where we were getting in...but we went in anyways. Just beyond our camp site, the river got a bit more rowdy, so I wanted to ensure we got to the edge before driving to the class three rapids...
We also had an adventure ziplining in the mountains. We drove about 15 minutes further north and did a two and a half hour trip down the mountain. It consisted of 10 different runs and two repelling experiences. It was a blast! Can't wait for an opportunity to do it again!
Being that the river was shallow in our area, the kids waded out and almost across the entire river, which I included a picture of. It made me very nervous as I thought they may get swept away...but they were kinda cute out there helping each other out.
The weather was gorgeous. Breezy, mild temperatures and low humidity. My kind of summertime weather.
Next adventure: Arizona. Kids, cousins, grandparents. No parents!
