As August quickly flies by, I wonder where the end of July went and the first half of August. Can anyone tell me? It feels like a couple of days ago, we were taking Kendall to soccer camp. Now, suddenly, we are ten days away from another school year beginning.
Stop the clock! I need more time!! I am not ready to begin the school year. Not ready for homework, school activities and being on a schedule for waking, sleeping and eating. And carpooling.
This summer has been so fun! We packed in more activity to these past three weeks, where I previously thought we were doing a lot of fun stuff. These past three weeks put the rest to shame.
We went to the beach, then New York City, then had visitors all with one day of recoup time in between.
The beach was awesome! We were on the beach that first day from 11am til 7pm. It was glorious! The following day, the water was so perfect that I didn't want to leave. I felt like a fish :)
I thought NYC would be an inexpensive trip. Free hotel, only paying for gas to drive up. haHA was I mistaken. Tolls! Holy cow, the tolls. Parking! Food! While it cost more to do anything than I anticipated, it was an amazing time. The 9/11 memorial was a highlight for all of us. Central Park was so fun to see. Kendall loved her horse and carriage ride through the park. Little Italy might've been my favorite. We had an outstanding lunch at a sidewalk cafe there. The subway ride out to Coney Island and Coney Island itself was super-fun. Oh, and Times Square! Being right there in the middle of all the action was so much fun!
We got home with one day to prepare for grandma and grandpa Woolery to arrive. We decided to switch our TV room and guest rooms around so that we'd have a first floor room for our parent's visits. We threw that into the mix and were able to accomplish this the evening before they got here. Kendall kept g&g worn out with wii bowling. We also went out for a boat ride, to church (even putting them to work in the two year old room with us!), Keith and his dad played golf..we cooked, I worked a little, we had shutters installed, it was just a nice visit.
So, with this one week left before school starts, we plan to see a couple of movies, do some school shopping, and perhaps some relaxing. Oh, and a quick trip to Asheville for a soccer tournament!!!
It never ends, does it! :)
