Time has flown by and I've had little time to blog and little to blog about. Not that life hasn't been full of activity and action. Just not exciting enough to write about, I suppose. Or, when there has been something exciting to mention, the time to write about it has been absent.
After the Taylor Swift concert, we had a house full for Thanksgiving. It was wonderful to have Mom & Dad Woolery here, along with Pam & Dave. We had a blast visiting, playing the wii, playing cards, cooking together, siting in the amazing sunshine we had all weekend, shopping, looking at Christmas lights. And laughing. Lots of laughing.
All that laughing put me into a fit of coughs. I have been coughing almost non-stop since early November. I believe I had a virus first. Not much other than a cough. One of my bosses had the same thing. It lasted a good two weeks. After Thanksgiving, it started to subside. Thankfully, as it is exhausting to expend that much energy coughing! Then, an amazing new assistant came to work in our office. She got sick her second week. With a cough. I started coughing again this past week. I am blaming her. My chest, stomach and shoulder cavities and muscles hurt from the forcefulness of this cough. No other symptoms. Just a cough. Yuk. My head has hurt for the past 4 days from my brain getting rattled around in there. I am ready to feel great again! Any day now...
Throughout November and December, I've been working closer to full time than part time. I have enjoyed it, but it sure does take a chunk out of your time for other stuff :) I don't recall ever working in an office where I enjoy hanging out and am rarely in a rush to leave. The ladies I work with all ROCK. I am slightly sad that our two docs decided to split up and no longer practice together. We found out in mid- November. Using a mediator, and putting in sealed bids, our male doc got to buy the practice and the female doc will set up an office elsewhere. I am going with her, as is most of the staff. No hard feelings against him, it's just that she is awesome and more progressive and will have a bigger staff to start as a solo. Her new office will be half a mile from our current place. It's been great fun being part of the planning in taking a space and turning it into a dental practice. But, it's time consuming and all five of us girls have been meeting and planning. She's going to be a great boss. She's got a lot of class and has handled this split with such great character. She's a Christian and wants to implement prayer into the start of our work days every day. I think that is so cool! We'll be moving into the new space by early May (fingers crossed).
Keith has been crazy busy with work as he is every December. He has been everywhere but home for the most part. He went to Richmond yesterday to help a good friend celebrate turning 50. When he arrives home later today, he will finally get to slow down and be home. We are looking forward to having him around. He is also looking forward to having lasagna!! I was cooking homemade pasta sauce from 7:30 am Saturday morning, all day long in the crockpot. He wanted some so bad. He asked why I didn't do this every week! Maybe because it's not necessarily convenient??!! Anyway, I promised him there would be lasagna for dinner on Sunday night.
I made the lasagna for the girls at work, who came over last night for dinner and a movie. We all wanted to see The Help when it came out on dvd. So, last night was it. We also had a naughty santa gift exchange (where you can steal someone elses gift)...and I got a set of the cutest mini spatulas with Christmas decoration on them! I've been lucky enough to get to catch up with several friends in December, planning mini get togethers or meeting for dinner or a snack. We also had a soccer party at our home a couple of weeks ago. The parents of Kendall's soccer team came, we didn't invite the kids!! We are blessed by this group overall in that we enjoy each other. It's a good thing because we are pretty much seeing each other on a regular basis year-round. It's become like a second family!
The kids are doing great. Kendall is currently playing indoor soccer with her team. Thankfully, it's only once a week and a closer drive than outdoor season. Justin is loving his guitar and, speaking of guitar, he had a recital yesterday. He played "rock you like a hurricane" by the Scorpions. He was REALLY GOOD .... he did some fancy finger work that really impressed me. I hear him practice all the time, but he practices on the 3rd floor, so I guess I don't hear as much and I was blown away! Of the twelve performances, he and one other dude were the most advanced. This other guy, who looked to be 14 or 15, was working that guitar like Joe Satriani. Un-believable. His guitar teacher, Jude, is the coolest thing and had the nicest things to say about his students. So glad we got to see the recital.
Well, this is what we've been up to since last you heard from the Wooleries. Not much, but a lot at the same time. What an oxymoron :) I'll try to be better with updates. One more week to push through with work for me and school for the kids (til Wednesday), then two weeks of rest and relaxation!!!
